Creating beautifully fragranced artisan candles, with sustainability at heart.

Founded in 2020 by Heather Gilberthorpe Pell, Lit has grown to become an artisan brand that centres around collaboration with fellow female makers, working sustainably to create naturally fragranced products of the highest quality.

After utilising the beneficial properties of aromatherapy at home - and making gifts for family and friends - we began selling natural candles during lockdown to people who might also benefit from aromatherapy at home.

Our key aim was to create naturally scented candles using sustainable ingredients, so we perfected our skills working solely with European rapeseed wax (temperamental!) and pure essential oils.

Since then, we’ve continually sought ways to work more sustainably while developing our product range. We’ve moved from using glassware for our candles, to solely selling refillable candles made using handmade ceramic vessels.

We now also sell Reed Diffusers that utilise and re-purpose the amber glass bottles of our essential oils. And we love sharing our knowledge and passion during our Candlemaking Workshops.

And whilst we’ve always been plastic free, we now proudly use packaging that’s grown from mushrooms.
